a few weeks ago i started a thread explaining that i wanted to read the entire bible for the first time.
i had been reading the kjv and i read revelation, john i, ii, ii and then i read john, matthew, mark, luke using the kjv in that order at someone's suggestion here.
i further took the suggestion of the poster and purchased an niv bible.

I am not hurling insults..nor trying to discourage you to draw your own conclusions from your own research. It would be better to follow and pursue your own guesses than someone elses.
Just don't try to pass them off as facts or truth to others.
some have stated that the jw's go too far with their doctrine, but that much of the basic.

i don't want to debate whether the bible is correct.. i just want opinions on how much of the jw doctrine agrees with the actual teachings of .
How will ever know for sure if you are correct or not?
Was Jesus trying to mislead anyone by telling them Lazarus was "resting"? Or was everyone else correct in saying he was "dead"? Or were they both right?
Why would He say resting?...instead of died? Did He have a reason?
Or is it unimportant?
Who has the answer to these questions...or do I have to continue to settle for guesses as answers?
it has been 13 years since i flew the coop,so i am not sure what changes or might i say new insight has come about.. here is the problem.
my mom who has been a witness for 18 years and is 73 years old has lymphoma of the brain.. in order to have a chance at all she is taking chemo and has decided to accept blood platlets.. she is still a loyal j.w.
and nothing has changed to her.she understands what she is doing but evidently thinks it won't matter.. under these circumstances does anyone know what or if they will take disciplinary action?.
To be in such fear of them and what they think of you.....shows the degree of power and control they have over you......
Almost sounds like you are trying to hide your actions from God.....and you don't even know for sure if He approves or not! Because someone thinks He does not.....does not really mean He does not.
There is quite a bit of freedom in ignorance..try it some time.
Or obey some know-it-all in a suit and tie if that is what floats your boat.

Finally...someone realizes the dictionary does not define someones words unless they want it to...if you are writing to followers and people who have their faith in the dictionary as their authority on the definitions of words..you will need to also use it as your authority so that they may understand you.
However....if you want to have your own language and definitions of words...nobody will understand you until they ask you for your thoughts and defitions..and if they try to use a dictionary to define your words...well...they will be lost and misled by their own hands and arrogance.
The Bible is it's own language...and it can define it's own words but you have to hunt and look very carefully to find the correct defintitions of the words. Or break weak and take the easy way and open a dictionary..see how far that gets you.
The Key to the Bible is......unlearn and learn.....take nothing at your own understanding..seek and try to find the truth and correct defintion.
Or rely on someone else to tell you what things to believe and take literal and what not to take literal...and be their bitch.

i think i remember hearing that they were trying to phase this teaching out.

When you are right...you do not have to resort to abusive speech, threats, or a gun to win the disagreement. imo
been going through my head lately....if you try to prevent them from doing what they want...they see you as the enemy...but are you?.
if you take away their freedom to do so.....are they no longer free?
will they hate you...or thank you when they come to their senses?.
I did that on purpose...I pointed out and made self-destructive people a open target for everyones judgement..........
So that shortly..when everyone is done pointing out what they think needs to be done with them...and everyone decides that their freedom needs to be taken and them restrained.....
I will then set out to prove to each and everyone of you...you are in fact the self-destructive person you have been judging and deciding what is best for their/your well being.
What happens when I accomplish that? How will you react?
People are quick to judge and look down on their niegbors yards...they jump right in..and it is all fun..until they find out it is really YOUR backyard you just judged and looked down on.
I learned how to do that from the Bible....A prophet did it to David when he poked Bash-sheba and had her husband killed.

If "You will know the truth..and the truth will set you free".."and keep searching and it will be revealed to you"...what if the truth is we cannot possibly know what all this means without the Author revealing them to us personally?
